#35: This week on Rise Recover Live, Liz and Bryce The Third return to for a heartfelt conversation between two friends, diving into what it means to adapt.
As life moves through seasons, each one calls us to shift our mindsets and behaviors. For Liz, adaptation was a survival tool during active addiction. She reflects on the delicate balancing act of trying to feel better while in pain, reaching for the only tool she knew at the time.
But even before taking her last drink, Liz began to shift her mindset—deciding she deserved recovery and happiness. Now, her focus is maintenance: doing the daily work to feel strong and supported. Whether it’s going to bed early, seeing a therapist, staying connected to friends, or being present, these tools help her navigate whatever life throws at her.
Bryce shares how he actively leans into the challenge of shifting his mindset—because it's something he can control. Every day, he identifies what's within his power to change and what steps align him with the person he wants to be. It's how he bends without breaking. And when he catches himself being self-critical, he pauses to reframe and practice gratitude.
